The third largest island of the world crosses the equator and shelters enormous wealth. It hosts thousands of unique species - those in danger of imminent extinction as well as those that were not discovered yet. Borneo's forests are threatened - a large part of them has been irrecoverably destroyed and deforestation continues. Fortunately, however, these ancient forests prevail in the so-called "heart of Borneo", also due to their inaccessibility. Despite a long history of research, scientists are still cataloguing new species of flora and fauna and expect a lot of potential for finding more of them. In addition, these forests absorb huge quantities of CO2 emissions and are one of the largest unexplored reservoirs, where drugs can be found for a variety of diseases. Borneo is undoubtedly one of the most important centers of biodiversity in the world that we should save.
